The second edition of the International Drowning Prevention Seminar (SIPA) will be held in October in Cordoba
It will bring together national and international experts to discuss the subject, as a prelude to the CIPREA, to be celebrated in 2024
The second edition of the International Seminar on Drowning Prevention (SIPA), organised by the Royal Spanish Lifesaving and Rescue Federation, will be held on Saturday 28 October in Cordoba.
This edition of the SIPA will be the prelude to the International Congress on Drowning Prevention (CIPREA), which will also be celebrated in Cordoba between 18 and 20 October next year, 2024, and which for the first time will be repeated in the same city.
On the day before the SIPA, Friday 27 October, prevention and first aid workshops will be organised for the students of the IES Galileo Galilei Secondary School in Cordoba.
This activity is included in the line of collaboration between the school and the Royal Spanish Federation of Rescue and Lifesaving in order to raise awareness in this area to future professionals of emergencies and civil protection.
IES Galileo Galilei, recognised within the national network of centres of excellence in Vocational Training, is a benchmark and pioneering institute in vocational training in the Emergency and Civil Protection studies.
On Sunday 29 October, a free workshop on initiation to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid will be held in the Plaza de las Tendillas, along the same lines as the one that took place at the beginning of November last year, which was attended by more than 400 people over the course of a weekend.
The SIPA is part of the collaboration between the Royal Spanish Lifesaving and Rescue Federation and Cordoba City Council in actions in the field of drowning prevention and is presented as a forum for reflection prior to the CIPREA with the intention of offering a reflection to provide solutions to a reality that in Spain has led to more than three hundred deaths so far this year.
The Cordoba edition of the SIPA, which will be held at the Visitor Reception Centre (CRV), has already confirmed the attendance of the Vice President of Prevention and Scientific Research of Drowning of the Latin American Federation of Rescue and Lifesaving, Alexandre Tadeia, and the president of the Italian Association of Social Promotion ‘Pandora’, Marisol Flores.
In addition, the evolution that is being carried out in the actions of public administrations in this field in various Autonomous Communities will also be discussed.12.09.2023.
